Being able to see the number of visitors to your web site can be very useful. Counting the number of visitors to your web side can be a difficult process. There are many tools available to measure the number of visitors, The Visitors Counter as shown on the left hand side of this screen and the 2 Statistics counters shown at the top of this screen are 2 of the optional wed site modules we recommend.
A Visitor Counter is not a Hit Counter.
Most old web sites have a Hit Counter. Hit counters can give a false representantion as they count the number of hits made to the web server. Each web page will make multiple hits to the web server to download the images and modules that make up the individual web page. A typical web page such as this one will make between 20 and 200 hits to the web server.
A single vistor may make 100's or even 1000's of hits to your web server during a single visit. A visitors counter counts the number of individual visitors not the number of hits made by each visitor. |
